Pollution in Delhi NCR: A Crisis We Can’t Ignore

The National Capital Region is choking. With pollution levels reaching record highs, the city's air quality has deteriorated to alarming levels. Every breath we take is a gamble with our health. Our once vibrant city is now shrouded in a toxic haze, leaving residents gasping for fresh air.

As the situation keeps getting worse with no solution in sight, we decided to ask some of our riders on how they are handling this situation. Let’s take a look at what they had to say.

Pollution in Delhi NCR

Neha, a new mother

“I'm terrified of the pollution levels in NCR. My newborn is extremely vulnerable to the harmful effects of smog. I worry about his delicate lungs and the potential for long-term health problems. Every breath they take, I fear they're inhaling toxins. All this just adds to the stress of raising an infant.”

Aditya, a daily commuter

“The daily commute from Saket to Gurgaon has become a nightmare. It's not just the traffic anymore, it's the suffocating smog that's taken over. I feel like I'm inhaling poison every day. I'm not a smoker, but the air quality is so bad, it feels like I'm chain-smoking 30-40 cigarettes a day. My lungs burn, my throat is constantly sore, and I'm always tired.

It's disheartening to see how our city has deteriorated. Moreover, this is not even a one-off occurrence. This happens every winter, and nobody seems to take note. Sure, you will have some online buzz around it, but how is there no permanent solution?

I'm exposed to this pollution for hours every day. I fear for my health and the health of my family. We deserve to breathe clean air and to live in a city that doesn't compromise our well-being. We are living in the national capital after all.”

Adverse effects of pollution in NCR

Anand, a frequent business traveller

“I've been coming to NCR for years, but this time, the air quality is shocking. It's like breathing through a dirty filter. I've experienced the city's traffic and chaos before, but this level of pollution is unbearable. My eyes are constantly watering, my throat is sore, and I have a persistent cough.

It's disheartening to see such a beautiful city suffer from such poor air quality. The authorities need to take immediate action to address this issue. It’s high time some changes are implemented.

I had to cut short my trip because I couldn't bear the pollution anymore. It's a shame that such a thriving city is being choked by smog. I hope the government prioritises environmental concerns and works towards a cleaner, healthier future for NCR.”

Jagdish, an elderly citizen

“The air we breathe has turned poisonous. I can barely step out of my home without gasping for air. My asthma has worsened as well.

It’s not just me; our children, our future generations, are paying the price. What kind of world are we leaving behind? We need immediate and drastic measures to reverse this environmental catastrophe. Can't we prioritise our health and our planet over short-term gains?”
